Threatened species

Threatened species :-

Those species which are likely to be became extinct is proper measures are not taken to protect them . IUCN (international Union for Conservation of Natural & natural Resources) , With it headquarter at morges in Switzerland , recognizes following of threatened species :

1.       Endangered species :- 

Those species whose survival in unlikely if the casual factors continue to act or species facing extinction are called Endangered species . 25,000 species of plants are estimated to face extinction today
IUCN,Endangered species,Endangered plant species,Rare Species,Intermediate specie,Vulnerable species,Red Data Book,Endangered ornamental plants,Endangered Medicinal,Endangered Scientific valuable,Endangered Economic plants,Diospera,,Pinus gerardiana,Santalum album,Balanophora involucrata, Dischidia benghalensis,Atropa acuminata, Podophyllum hexandrum,Aerides crispum, Cymbidium macrohiza

2.       Vulnerable species :- 

Those species which is likely to fall into category of endangered in near future if casual factors continue to act, are called vulnerable species

3.       Rare Species :- 

These species with small world population which are at risk of becaming endangered or vulnerable , are called rare species

4.       Intermediate species :- 

these species suspected to be belong to either of above three categories but the reason is not known

Red Data Book :-

IUCN maintains a red data book, in which list of endangered species of plants and animal has been given. This book has pink pages for critically endangered species

Endangered ornamental plants :-
Aerides crispum, Cymbidium macrohiza
 Endangered Medicinal plants :-
Atropa acuminata, Podophyllum hexandrum
Endangered Scientific valuable plants :-
Balanophora involucrata, Dischidia benghalensis
Endangered Economic important plants :-
Diospera = Steroid plant
Pinus gerardiana = Chilgoza yielding plant

Santalum album = Chandan yield plant
