ECOLOGICAL SUCCESSION
Communities are never stable but keep on changing .This
relatively sequence of communities over a period of time in the same area is
called ecological succession
Hult (1885) first of all gave the term ecological succession
The term ecosystem developing was given to ecological by
odum
Basic type of succession :-
Some basic type of succession area as follow
a. Primary succession :-
it start from the
primitive substratum ,where there is no already living matter
b. Secondary succession :-
The succession which
starts from already built substratum , where there was living matter earlier
According to another classification :-
These succession are of following types
1.
Autogenic succession :- when the succession has
begun , the vegetarian itself is responsible for replacing itself by changing
existing environment condition
2.
Allogenic succession :- When in succession other
conditions are responsible for responsible for replacing communities , then it
is called allogenic succession
Depending upon the Substratum , succession
is of three types :
Hydrosere or Hydrarch :-
Succession
beginning in fresh water e.g . ponds, lake , streams
Xerosere or Xerarch :-
Succession beginning
in dry conditions . it is further classified into three type
è
Lithosphere :- When succession starts on bare
rocks
