ECOLOGICAL SUCCESSION

Communities are never stable but keep on changing .This relatively sequence of communities over a period of time in the same area is called ecological succession
Hult (1885) first of all gave the term ecological succession
The term ecosystem developing was given to ecological by odum

Basic type of succession :-

Some basic type of succession area as follow

a.       Primary succession :- 

it start from the primitive substratum ,where there is no already living matter

b.      Secondary succession :- 

The succession which starts from already built substratum , where there was living matter earlier

According to another classification :-

These succession are of following types
1.       Autogenic succession :- when the succession has begun , the vegetarian itself is responsible for replacing itself by changing existing environment condition
2.       Allogenic succession :- When in succession other conditions are responsible for responsible for replacing communities , then it is called allogenic succession
Depending upon the Substratum , succession is of three types :

Hydrosere or Hydrarch :-

 Succession beginning in fresh water e.g . ponds, lake , streams

Xerosere or Xerarch :- 

Succession beginning in dry conditions . it is further classified into three type
è Lithosphere :- When succession starts on bare rocks
è Psammosere :- When succession begin on sand
è Halosere :- When succession start in saline condition

3.       Mesarch :- 
When succession starts in mesic condition
