Braking system

 Braking system :-

@ requirement of goood brake system :-

A good braking system fulfill the following requirement
- The fast running vehicle should be stop in shortest distance and time
- The break should be equally affective on good and bad roads
- Break should work equally good in all wheather
- In case of emergency their should be an independent packking break system

# Mechanical brake ;-

the brake which arew operated mechanically by means of lever, padels, cans etc
mechanical brakes were employed in older days but now hydrualic  and other type of breaking  system have take is places

# Construction ;-

foot padel is attached to the central rod and internal expanding mechanically operated brake usually consist of following main component
- Brake pedal to opearate the brakes
- Links and lever to provide mechanic connection
- brakes drum  which moves with the rod wheels , the expanding break shoe come into contact to retard its speed
- cam which expands the break shoes
- Retracting Spring ;-
which connect both the break shoe at their loose ends and helps them contracting after the breaks are released

# Working :-

when the break padel is pressed it turns the central load, the lever attached to the central load . so, the lever pull their respective break rods, when brake rod is pulled it activate that can in break assembly and expands   the brake shoe, break shoe forced against brake down and produce retarding force . in this way mechanical brake pedal retractor spring pills the brake shoe back

# Uses :-

parking brakes of the vehicles are also mechanical type working these parking brakes are operated  by hands
E.g = Hand break in maruti vehicle are mechanical brake

@ hydrualic brake :-

brakes which are operated by mean of hydraulic pressure or  fluid pressure

@ Layout Components :-

the layout of hydrualic brake are have main componentys are
- Brake padel
- Master cylinder
-Fluid reservoir
- Fluid cylinder
master cylinder contain reservoir for brake fluid . master cylinder is operated by brake pedal and is further connected to wheel cylinder in each wheel through straight pipe

# Principle :-

master cylinder contain is the main componentys of hydrualic brake system . which contain reservoir for the brake fluid. fluid pressure is involved in this type of brake so, hydraulic brake acts according to the principle of pascal law
pressure applied to a liquid in a closed vessel if equally transmitted in all  direction

# working ;-

in this type of brake wheel cylinder takes the place of brake shoe operating cam
the wheel cylinder contain 2 piston . the piston inside the wheel cylinder move out piston inside the wheel cylinder move out. when the greater hydrulic pressure acts inside the cylinder , master cylinder supplying the high pressure fluid to wheel cylinder the piston then move outward in the cylinder exerting pressure on the  brake shoe. As a result the brake shoe are expanded outwward and come into contact with the brake down in this way brakes are supplied

@ Wheel Cylinder :-

it is an important part of hydraulic brake system. the construction of wheel cylinder .it consist of cylinder body, piston ,rubber up and coil spring. the coil spring inside the cylinder ,keep the rubber cup in position with the piston, the rubber cup avoid the leakage of the fluid out of the whole cylinder. the piston transmits fluid pressure to the brake shoe for the application of brakes hence the brake fluid pressure forms the piston apart for  applying the brakes

@ master cylinder :-

         #Working :-

it is main components of hydraulic brake system;-

# Construction ;-

it consists of two portion such and the reservoir and the compression chamber and the reservoir and the piston in it operate .the reservoir is above the compression chamber .there is a hole at the reservoir through which fluid is filled into it the compression chamber or main cylinder contains a pistion ,primary and secondary rubber cup, coil spring and out let check valve to prevent leakage there are rubber seals on both end of the piston in compression chamber .the  reservoir is connected to compression chamber through two holes parts as inlet part and compenrating port

#Working :-

the push rod is operating with foor padel as the is pressed push rod move against the force of spring. movement of push rod causes pressure in the compression chamber the piston inside the cylinder pumps out fluid into the brake line throgh the check valve as a result a fluid pressure is built up in the system. the fluid pressure acts at the piston in the wheel cylinder, further. these wheel cylinder pistion expands the brake shoe and brakes are applied

@ Vaccum Brake :-

      # Working :-

when the brake pedal is pressed to apply brake .the pressure of the brake fluid pushes the piston in control unit up, thereby closing the lower valve and opening the upper valve ,thus left side of the serve piston is exposed to atmospheric pressure. where as vaccum act as right side . this causes the serve piston to move towards right side, this movement is utilized to apply the brakes in the wheel through some leakage

2 Brake Drum ;-

it consist of cast iron the brake drum       connecting surfaces for the braking action ,after prolonged used they also get warm out on their inner diameter as such the brake drum should be replaced

i) Heat generation :-

during breaking a small amount of heat is generates due to friction because kinetic enegy due to friction because kinetic energy due to speed is converted into heat energy during braking. this hreat generated may increase the temperature beyond limit and cause faltsin brake drum and brake lining'

@ Vrake lining :-

there are two type of lining which employed with brake shoe are organic and metallic
