- Mainly found in water pond,lakes,river etc
- Sexes are separate in this animal
- As is have evolutionary modifified these animal have come on surface of water for taking oxygen beside having gill
- Fertilization are external in this animal
 - These animal having spindle shaped body
- Weight of this naimal have about 20-25 kg
- There dorsal and ventral side have dark and light colour difference
- Body is divisible into Head , trunk and tail
- Dark Greyish colour are mostly founf in this animal
- These animal are of Oviparous type lay egg
- These animal have mainly four type of fin are as
* Dorsal fin
* Pelvic fin
* Anal fin
* caudal fin
- There gill cover with cover called operculum
- These animal bear pair of eye but without eyelids
- These animal body Covered with cyloid sclaes
- there is also lateral line on the body of the animal
- Their gut system is complete
- These animal have single caudal fin for forward moving in water
- Most imporatnt character of this animal are have gall bladder , which help this animal for maintaining specific gravity in water

- Male testis are in pinkish in colour attached to body wall with mesorchia, sperms are motile, small, many in number

- The male rohu have specialized structure called clasper to hold female during breeding
